2009 Fall Clean-up
I was happy to support the Emmaus Bible Church Youth group and allow them to take care of my fall clean up. This is always a daunting task normally performed by myself on what seems to be the coldest and most windy day in November. This year, as you can see, the weather was great. The youth group, with the youth directors, have been working to raise funds for their teen room renovation, the turn out was great and clean-up was a snap! Thanks teens.
2008 Christmas Parade
I was asked by my church to pull a float in the West Bend Christmas Parade. As you can see from the pics it was snowing like crazy. It started a few hours before and lasted well into the night. I don't remember exactly how much snow we got but I think it was 8"-12". It was challenging pulling the float but really seemed to add a bonus to the event. We did have our own setbacks as we hauled the float from out of town to the starting area, which included poor road conditions, a complete collaspe of the nativity structure, and a thick layer of snow and ice all over the float. You can see in the above pic part of the wood structure laying on the curb (that's a small part of what broke that we were unable to reattach) I didn't build the float but attempted to rebuild it while waiting in line. With the darkness and cold of winter, the heavy layer of ice, very few tools and about 45 minutes of time, the odds were not in our favor. I really didn't think we would be able to participate with what was left. But as time was getting short, we put on what we could, refashioned the light to go in the bed of my pickup and decided to go with what we had. I remember thinking right before the parade started, how the float just seemed to come together at the end. Granted we were unable to use a lot of it, but it did look ok and people probably wouldn't even notice we were missing our nativity structure. Well apparently, nobody noticed, because we won second place in the non-profit division. And yes there was a third place.
